Toll House Inn

The building has come a long way since its early days as the site of the Corporation Toll House. Built in 1901, the Corporation Toll House collected levies from traders on their way to market later becoming the Farmers Arms, a favourite watering hole opposite the livestock market.

Whether we’re a convenient stopover for a longer trip or a destination stay, The Toll House Inn puts you in the centre of Lancaster life. Whilst we are in the City, our inn has a lovely, warm, homely feel. Our beds are super comfortable, and we make sure each room has fresh milk for a proper cuppa and a few chunky biscuits for dunking.

Sitting down at the dinner table is a real treat. We love preparing and cooking regional dishes from quality, fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy your food with a pint of traditional Thwaites Ale. With over 200 years of brewing heritage to the Thwaites name, you can be sure we’ve put all our knowledge and experience into producing a fantastic ale brewed at our craft brewery in Lancashire. And when the Lancastrian weather is kind, take a seat in our hidden courtyard – city life at its al fresco best.
