Must see attraction

Lancaster Castle

Lancaster has a Castle owned by her Majesty the Queen and is one of the UK’s most significant historic monuments. Its origins date back to Roman times and it has been a centre of justice, incarceration and penal reform for almost 1,000 years. So there’s much to see and learn for all you history lovers. The castle is open 7 days a week offer tours throughout the day.

Lancaster Charter Market

Lancaster’s Charter Market is a traditional street market which can be found in the city centre in the shadow of many of Lancaster’s interesting and historic buildings.

The market is held every Wednesday and Saturday and offers a wide and exciting mix of stalls. Enjoy hot and cold food include Indian, Moroccan, Italian, Vegetarian, Hog-Roast, soups, pasties and pies, speciality sausages, donuts, and ice cream in the summer.



Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free food from The Whale Tail Café, established in Lancaster for over 25 years.

Try Tasty vegetarian breakfasts, wholesome lunches, soups and specials from the very best fresh, seasonal local produce; fair trade and organic ingredients used where possible. Hang out with your mates and tuck into your meal in the cosy comfort of the restaurant or in the pretty, secluded patio garden.



Medusa is a Turkish Restaurant & Meze Grill in the centre of Lancaster the place to go in for a taste of authentic Anatolian cuisine.

 Dalton Rooms & Glow Rooms are open 6 nights a week and is the place to be if you want to stay out to the early hours dancing. Club nights include Honey Badger Mondays, Retro Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, Epic Fridays, Social Saturdays & Industry Sundays. An epic place to meet, let your hair down and enjoy freshly prepared drinks & cocktails

The Hall

J Atkinson & Co – Coffee roasters and tea merchants since 1837 opened the former Priory Hall next door to their tea and coffee emporium on China Street, serving syphon coffee and lever espresso along with freshly baked cakes and delicious desserts. The Hall is a really cool place to hang out with friends, chill with a book or catch up with some studying. They also serve savoury food and alcohol during the day and until 21.30 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with live music on Saturdays from 9pm.



Fancy a tipple? Head to Lancaster’s new boutique Cocktail Bar in the heart of the city centre. Passionate about quality spirits, wines and beers. Join them for happy hour or pop downstairs for a game or two of ping pong!

Out of the past

Another must see vintage spot.  Out Of The Past is a shop selling vintage and vintage inspired mens clothing.


Market Gate

Market Gate Shopping Centre is a vibrant retail centre within the heart of Lancaster City Centre. Choose from a wide range of national and independent shops.


St Nics

St Nics is another one of Lancaster’s shopping centres they’ve got all you need under one roof including fashion, beauty, gifts, food & drink. Home to big brand names like Next, Boots, Iceland, Argos and The Entertainer as well as offering delicious snacks from our cafe and restaurant.


Places to chill

Williamson Park

 Go for a walk in the park and visit Williamson Park’s 54 acres of beautiful parkland and enchanting walks and play areas with breath-taking views to the Lake District. Step inside the tropical butterfly house, Mini-beasts, bird enclosure as well as the small mammal section. Enjoy a snack in the Pavilion Café or visit our Gift Shop.


Relax by the sea – Morecambe

                Just a short distance from Lancaster City Centre you will find the seaside town of Morecambe. Grab your new mates and enjoy a day at the beach whilst taking in the views of the Morecambe Bay. Stroll along Morecambe’s award winning promenade with an ice cream or have fun seeing it on two wheels if that’s your thing. P.s a Morecambe Bay sunset is a must see.

Enjoy a 2 night festival of art, light and fireworks illuminating the city’s historic buildings, charming streets and hidden squares.



Highest Point Festival

15-17 May 2020

Highest Point returns in 2019 with a 3 day music festival set within the scenic surroundings of Williamson Park, Lancaster. Highest Point is truly a unique experience transforming Williamson Park into one big colourful festival showcasing the amazing, quirky, beautiful spaces and hidden features of the park with 4 stages showcasing A list bands and DJs alongside arts, theatre, street food and licensed bars.
