Harry Potter: A History of Magic Exhibition at Lancaster City Museum on until 16th September
The British Library’s Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibition is current in Lancaster City Museum! Dive into a world of wizardry and discover some fascinating objects from the museum’s collection. Inspired by the subjects taught at Hogwarts, the exhibition explores some of the influences behind the magical Harry Potter universe. Find out how Hogwarts History intertwines with real life in Lancashire and beyond. There will be activities and events throughout so keep an eye on the programme.

Monday – Pebble art – take home wonderful creations
Tuesday – Morecambe Bay Mud Life – local fishing
Wednesday – Punch & Judy shows
Thursday – Crazy crabs workshop
Friday – Dino Day create your own fossil imprints and take part in our dinosaur quiz trail.
Sessions times – 11am, 12pm, 1pm & 2pm
Museum Admission – Adults £3.00, Concessions £2.00, Children and local adults free.
Workshop – £1.00 per child. Booking advisable.
Lunesdale Studio Art Trail – 19-20, 26-28 May
With its growing popularity and reputation, the Lunesdale Arts Trail has become a significant annual creative event in the calendar of the North West. Travelling through the pretty stone-built hamlets with the rough moorland and Pennine hills in the distance, it is possible to meet the individual artists in their different studios and workshops. Insights can be gained into how a particular artist works, see work in progress and discuss the motivation behind their activity. There is also an opportunity to purchase items of work – direct from the maker – paintings, drawings, ceramics, creative glass and textiles.
The Adventures of Doctor Dolittle at Williamson Park – 28 May
Illyria is a multi-award winning, open air theatre company who have delighted audiences the length and breadth of the UK as well as in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, the United States and Canada! Now they are bringing their spectacular “The Adventures of Dr Dolittle” to Williamson Park!
When Doctor John Dolittle of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh is taught by his wise old parrot Polynesia how to talk to animals, news of his skills spreads far and wide. Soon animals across the world send messages asking for his help. So, he buys a leaky old ship and, together with his trusty pet-crew of Jip the dog, Chee-Chee the monkey, Dab-Dab the Duck and permanently hungry Gub-Gub the pig, sets forth on a mission to heal illness, spread compassion and gain a greater understanding of the animal kingdom.
Fellsman Steam Railway Journey – 29 May-21 August
The popular ‘Fellsman’ runs again on selected Tuesday’s in summer 2018 for its 10th season offering a return steam hauled journey from Lancaster of over 270 miles on the spectacular ‘Settle to Carlisle Railway’ as you travel through the Yorkshire Dales and climb high towards the roof of England. Time will be available for sightseeing in the historic border city of Carlisle – or perhaps alight at Appleby and take an optional tour of the Lake District by vintage coach with a cruise on beautiful Ullswater.
Morgan & West: More Magic for Kids at the Dukes – 29 May
Time-travelling magicians Morgan & West return to the stage with a marvellous magic show full of crazy capers for the young, old, and everyone in-between.
Expect the unexpected, believe the unbelievable, but do not dare miss the unmissable Morgan & West.
Might Mr Morgan manage a whole trick without his partner complaining? Will Mr West ever accept children as real people too? Can everyone’s favourite duo of deception finally find fame, fortune, and a box of fondant fancies? Find out all of this and more in Morgan & West: More Magic For Kids!
Dino Day II – 1st June
On Friday 1st June Rex the T-Rex will be back in the city and this time he is bringing some friends with him as well as multiple appearances from some adorable baby dinosaurs and live egg hatches. The event comes just days before the release of the next Jurassic World film which hits cinemas on June 6th and is set to be another hit, breaking more box office records as it’s predecessors did which proves just how popular our fascination with all things dinosaur still are .
