Festive Family Fun

 

The Countdown to Christmas has officially begun! It’s the most wonderful time of the year here in Lancaster with a variety of festive events getting underway for you and the whole family to enjoy. Meet Father Christmas, go ice skating or see a Christmas panto – the choice is yours. Here’s some event’s which are sure to provide you with some magical family time ahead of the big day.

 

Santa’s Living Room

See Father Christmas in his cosy Sitting Room in the newly refurbished Royal Kings Arms. It will start to feel a lot like Christmas as you enter the hotel with its magnificent trees and decorations. While your children wait for their turn to see the man himself, they will have the opportunity to make a special gift for Rudolph and write their Christmas letters.

The whole family will then be taken through for their private appointment and an elf will be on hand to capture your magical memories while by taking photographs with your camera or will be happy to take one on the elf camera and email it to you – free of charge. Each child will take home a traditional parcel of chocolate and Christmas cookies.

 

Lancaster On Ice

This winter something special is coming to Lancaster with its first ever Ice Rink. The historic garden of Dalton Square will be transformed into an Ice Rink as Lancaster on Ice comes to town. Enjoy 6 weeks of entertainment, skating, food, drink and much more under the watchful gaze of Queen Victoria. Whether you’re a talented ice skater or first timer this is the perfect Christmas fun for the whole family.

And even better and why not make a day of your trip to Lancaster? Every ticket for the Ice Rink entitles one child under 16 years of age a free visit to Williamson Park Butterfly House and Mini-Beast Zoo with a full paying adult. Just show your ticket at The Butterfly House reception for this offer between the 22nd Nov 2018 and 6th Jan 2019.

 

Panto

A Christmas tradition for many families is to head to the theatre to see a Christmas panto. Luckily for you Lancaster has a choice of pantos to see this Christmas. Including Peter Pan at the Dukes and Robin Hood at Lancaster Grand Theatre.

 

Christmas at the Castle

A Christmas tradition for many is heading to the Christmas Markets with the family. So why not join Lancaster Castle for their festive fayre. Browse over stalls from local and regional artisans and makers and pick up amazing Christmas gifts whilst keeping the family entertained. There will also be a wide selection of hot and cold food stalls so why not treat yourself to a hot chocolate or mulled wine. The castle will be full of Christmas cheer with Festive music playing all day, including sets by bell-ringers, Victorian carol-singers, brass bands, school bands, jazz pianists and a carnival street bands.  Children will also have the chance to meet Santa and Mrs Claus (book early to avoid disappointment)

 

Reindeer Day

The beautiful Cairngorm Reindeer return to Lancaster on Sunday 9th December. Expect a visit from Santa and Christmas crafts. Make sure you head to Market Square to see Santa’s Reindeer from 11am-3pm.
