New: COVID-19 Guidance (Updated 19 July 2021)

Escape the everyday in Lancaster responsibly

Freedom Day has finally come around, and many of us are excited to resume socialising and exploring once more. So to make sure our newfound freedom is as beneficial to everyone and everything as can be, we’ve put together some tips on how to look after each other, businesses and the environment, and take responsibility for ourselves and our surroundings when on our travels.

  • Plan and book ahead, and pre-book tickets where needed. Be sure to contact our Morecambe Visitor Information Centre for guidance and the latest opening information before planning a trip and check individual business websites in advance before starting your journey.
  • Avoid tourist hot-spots where you can and check out some of our Hidden Gems and Outdoor Activities instead.
  • Be kind to staff and locals, and Support Local Independent Businesses where you can.
  • Make sure we’re keeping ourselves and others safe by washing your hands regularly, wearing face coverings in crowded, indoor spaces and respecting people’s personal space.
  • Look out for the ‘We’re Good to Go‘ mark – it shows businesses that are operating in line with government and public health COVID-19 guidance. Our local council also have a Covid Compliant Accreditation scheme for local businesses. Keep an eye out for the “Covid Safe” posters to demonstrate businesses are ready to welcome you back safely.
  • When out and about in our green areas, follow the Countryside Code – respect everyone around you, protect the environment and enjoy the great outdoors.
  • Head to the GOV.UK website for latest information on current COVID-19 guidance.

You can also discover more hidden gems, things to do and outdoor activities on our Explore Morecambe Bay website.

Thank you and stay safe.
