Kids in Museums? Absolutely!

Our pledge is to make our museums great places for children and young people to visit. Museums are no longer quiet places where you are expected to whisper, just explore, discover and have lots of fun – You will probably learn things too.

  • Our History Detectives Club has been designed to engage children with history. You can find more details by following the link below.
  • Our exhibitions will almost always have an element that is designed for families.
  • We run regular events and craft sessions, such as our Saturday Art Adventures. at the Maritime Museum.
  • We have lots of resources for teachers. Find out more here.
  • If you have a child with additional needs, then please get in touch and we can have a chat about how we can help.  We can open up slightly early for families who need a quiet time to visit.

Lancaster City Museums have signed the Kids in Museums Manifesto. Find out what that means, and more about Kids in Museums here.
