Kids in Museums? Absolutely!

IMG-20220726-WA0004  Our pledge is to make all of our museums great places for children and young people to visit. Museums are no longer quiet places where you are expected to whisper and tiptoe around. We love hearing and seeing children having fun!

Just explore, discover and learn.

Our History Detectives Club has been designed to engage children and it enables them to understand how context matters, and how local history fits with regional, national and global history. You can find more details by following the link below.

Our exhibitions will always have an element that is designed for families.

We run regular events and craft sessions, such as our Art Adventures sessions, family trails, and lots more to help you to discover things together.

We have lots of resources for teachers. Find out more here.

If you have a child with additional needs, then please get in touch and we can have a chat about how we can help.  For example, we can open up slightly early for families who need a quiet time to visit, discuss Personal Emergengy Evacuation Plans (PEEPS), or provide our trails in large print.

Lancaster City Museums have signed the Kids in Museums Manifesto. Find out what that means, and more about Kids in Museums here.
