Go to town (After lockdown)

Many of us are working from home now but if you are local why not get your daily exercise in by walking or cycling into town to visit the shops and save on delivery. Many shops are offering pick and collection. (Please remember to distance and always wear a mask when shopping).  Find a particular shop and check opening times of shops on our website.

Go Totally Local Lancaster

Part of the award-winning, international movement, Totally Local Lancaster has been set up to support our local businesses and highlight the amazing shops, bars, cafes and individuals that make up our city.

Shop local online

Big High Street names sell online but so do most of our local shops as well as in store so you can still support the local shops you love, online!

Buy local gift vouchers

Buy gift vouchers as presents for yourself or your friends and family. Not only will you have a beautiful treat to look forward to, but you’ll share your joy with local businesses who’ll be thrilled to have your ongoing, loyal support.

Dine “out” at home

Lancaster has a wealth of takeaways and recently many of our pubs and restaurants have been providing take out options as well.  So tonight, why not order a takeaway or delivery to enjoy in the comfort of your home!

Be more independent

Lancaster has a great reputation for an abundance of  independent and specialist shops to discover in town and online, with a great charter market taking place in Dalton Square twice weekly (Wed and Sat). Many are selling items that you just won’t get elsewhere and are often at cheaper prices.

Leave good reviews

One of the best ways to support our businesses is to leave positive reviews on websites that help with their future sales.  Most also have great Facebook, Twitter or Instagram feeds as well to follow for inspiration and to see what’s new in store).

Get some helpful advice and tips

Our Visitor Information Centre staff are on hand to help our visitors and locals find what they are looking for and can help with advice on directions, parking and what’s on. They also have their own selection of Lancaster inspired gifts and books that are also available online.
