Lancaster is served by Junction 33 and 34 of the M6 which provides immediate access along the A6 to Lancaster city centre. You can use either the RAC or AA route planners to view and print directions for your journey. Lancaster Railway Station is served by the West Coast Mainline with regular direct mainline Virgin services from London and the south to Glasgow and the north. Local services include a regular service between Lancaster and Morecambe, Heysham, Carnforth, Arnside and Silverdale along with links to other major stations including Leeds and Manchester. Lancaster Bus Station is situated on Damside Street in the city centre and is served by Stagecoach and National Express. Lancaster University campus is also served by Megabus.

From Manchester International Airport take the M56 motorway at Junction 5 and join the M6 motorway at Junction 20 (north), then follow the ‘By Car’ directions as above.

Lancaster was recently a Cycling Demonstration Town (2005-2011) which means it benefited from increased investment in facilities and initiatives for cyclists.
