Welcome back

Enjoy Summer Safely in Lancaster with our latest information below…

Know before you go – What’s Open?

We have pulled together a downloadable list of Attractions, Restaurants and Cafes, Shops and Places to Stay which are now open.

We are also working hard to update our website listings on our Stay, Eat & Drink, Attractions and Shopping pages.

However, due to the ever-changing nature of the situation we are currently in, please always check with restaurants, attractions, shop and accommodation providers before visiting by calling ahead or checking their websites directly.

‘We’re Good to Go’ – Feel assured about your stay

VisitBritain has launched a new industry standard mark as a way of supporting tourism businesses and providing reassurance to visitors.

The industry standard is a way of letting you know which businesses have made necessary changes to their day-to-day workings, including social distancing measures and staff training.

Keep an eye out for the ‘We’re Good to Go’ logo on our website listings when planning your trip online.

Booking your stay in Lancaster –

Lancaster makes a great short city break and is also a wonderful base for a longer stay in order to explore the wider area.

Many hotels, guest houses and self catering places our Where to Stay pages have opened and are taking bookings again.

All places will have their own restrictions in place to ensure your safety which you should check and understand prior to making a booking.

Unwind in Lancaster’s outdoor spaces

There are plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces to explore in and around Lancaster.

Enjoy the views from Williamson Park, meander along canal towpaths, or simply head down to the quayside to watch the River Lune flow by.

Here are some posts from our Blog that you may find helpful.  Wherever you visit, please always follow the Countryside Code.

Eat Out to Help Out

Many of the city’s restaurants and cafes have reopened, which you can view on our What’s Opened listings.

As the information becomes available, we will also show which places on our Eat and Drink pages are part of the Eat Out to Help Out promotion – offering up to £10 off a meal throughout August.

During lockdown, many of Lancaster food and drink outlets started offering takeaway and delivery options which you can still view here.

Indoor Attractions

You can view places that are welcoming visitors again but please note many of our larger attractions are still preparing to reopen.

For those which have reopened, please contact the attractions directly to find out about any changes to their visiting arrangements (i.e. timed tours/amended opening hours/pre-booking necessary).

Shopping –

Many shops have been open for a couple of weeks now in the city centre but not all of them.  Visit our Shopping pages then click through to the shop website for their latest opening times and customer arrangements.

Whilst shopping why not join our family friendly Monster Hero Safari? Follow the 10 super-sightings to hunt down the Monster Heroes and learn their stories.

Car Parks and Toilets

All Lancaster City Council owned car parks are open and are charging again (To encourage minimal cash use, please use Ring-Go cashless parking).

A useful website for finding toilets open in Lancaster and across the country can also be found here – www.lockdownloo.com/

Most events up to the end of October are now cancelled so we have removed our What’s On pages from our website but we look forward to reinstating them when events are safe and able to run again.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
