The Dukes Theatre: First Time
Award-winning HIV+ theatre-maker Nathaniel Hall brings his show First Time to The Dukes in Lancaster this February, fresh from his critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe debut.
Presented by Nathaniel Hall, Dibby Theatre and Waterside Arts, First Time is a hilarious and heartbreaking autobiographical solo show about growing up positive in a negative world. The party is over for Nathaniel, the balloons have all burst and he’s left living his best queer life: brunching on pills and Googling Kangaroo vaginas, ancient condoms and human cesspits on a weekday morning…or is he?
Taking place in LGBT history month, First Time is crucial for raising awareness of HIV. It’s both educational and moving, wearing its heart on its sleeve for all to see.
As well as being educational, the shows story is a universal one, with themes around coming of age, parenting and the search for happiness.
In 2020 Nathaniel will also appear in Russell T Davies’ brand new Channel 4 drama Boys about AIDS in 1980s Britain. Look out for Donald Bassett in episode three.
The show will be performed in Moor Space, The Dukes’ second site further up Moor Lane in Lancaster on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 February at 7.30pm.
Tickets range from £8 to £13.
