Lancaster City Museums have a lively programme of events and exhibitions throughout the year.

Discover family fun at our Art Adventures for children, or something a little more genteel in our exhibition galleries. So, what can you see and do at our museums this month?

 

Upcoming Events

BOOK NOW for this walking tour of Lancaster, THIS SATURDAY, 15th June.
Led by expert guide Eleanor Levin, the 18th century transatlantic slave trade tour uncovers a part of our local history that is hard to hear, but needs to be told.
£15 per person
Your ticket includes:
  • 1pm – 1.5 hour guided walking tour, starting and finishing at the Maritime Museum
  • 3pm – refreshments served in the Maritime Museum
  • 3:45pm – curatorial introduction to the museum’s transatlantic slave trade gallery
  • 4 – 5pm – exclusive extended opening.

Spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended – but you can also get your ticket from the Maritime Museum on the day if space is available.

 

 

Wednesday 12th June, 7:30pm

Join us at the Maritime Museum to hear about the dissertations of three students from Blackpool and Fylde College, thanks to the local Marine Conservation Society, MCS Lancashire Local Group.
Topics include:
  • Microplastic contamination of Mytilus edulis, by Scarlett Henson
  • Infection of mackerel by Anisakis Parasites, by Bradley Cooke
  • The impact of pH on coral growth, by Jack Dyson

City Museum Exhibitions

We have worked with the Standfast and Barracks team to develop an interactive exhibition celebrating the company’s centenary.

All talks begin at 7:30pm. There’s no need to book, just drop in.

Every month at Lancaster City Museum

Join us for lunchtime lectures from the Friends of Lancaster City Museum – all welcome!

There’s a £2 charge for non-members.

All talks begin at 1pm in the City Museum’s education room. The entrance is on New Street at the back of the museum. (If you can’t find it, just ask at the front desk!)

There’s no need to book, just drop in.
