Getting here

Lancaster is easily reached from all over the UK.  Why not travel here by train or bus? Both Lancaster Railway and Bus stations are located in the city centre and our city is easy to get around.

 

By Rail

Lancaster is on the West Coast Mainline and enjoys a regular service between London and Scotland. There are also local services between Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham and Carnforth along with links to other regional stations like Leeds and Manchester.

By Road

If you are arriving by car from the south exit Junction 33 of the M6 or Junction 34 from the north.  Why not use Lancaster’s Park and Ride? It is conveniently located just next to Junction 34 with a regular bus service into the city centre.

Arriving by electric car?  You can charge your car for free at Lancaster City Council’s car parks but you will need to pay any parking charges that are applicable. A connection fee to the network provider, Polar, is also required and you can sign-up and find out more information on their website at Polar-network.com.

 

By Bus

Lancaster Bus Station is in the city centre and is served by both Stagecoach and the National Express.  Lancaster University campus is also served by Megabus.

By Air

Lancaster’s nearest major Airports are Manchester International and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which are about 1 hour’s travel away. There is a direct train service between Manchester Airport and Lancaster.

By Bike

Lancaster is located on the main National Cycle Network Route 6 (North to South) and on Route 69 (East to West). Don’t forget to visit our Getting Around Lancaster page for details on cycling in the district.
