Learning with Lancaster City Museums

Schools

Lancaster City Museums are working with our partners to develop brand new resources for teachers and experiences for pupils. These will support learning local history in context with regional and national history. We understand the financial challenges of planning visits for schools and our self-guided sessions start at only £1.50 per child.

Themes for 2024 include:

  • Transatlantic Slave Trade (KS2)* Find out more about our Lancaster Slave Trade school city tours (guided or self-led) developed in partnership with Facing the Past by downloading the flyer below.

*These sessions are best done at the Maritime Museum (giving access to the Transatlantic slave trade galleries) but can be done at the City Museum.

What’s new?

We are working on exciting new sessions for schools looking at different ways to engage with historic eras through creative and physical activity, and we have new self-guided worksheets for the Maritime Museum and the City Museum.

If you would like to book a school visit to the City Museum, Maritime Museum or Cottage Museum please contact our Museum Education and Outreach Officer, Rachel, by email: historydetectives@lancaster.gov.uk
