It is well documented that there was a disconnect experienced between soldiers overseas and their loved ones at home. How could anyone at home really understand what they were experiencing: fear of death and defeat, anxiety and boredom?

How could those on active service really understand the impacts of war on what they knew as everyday life back home: the difficulties caused by food shortages, rationing, children being evacuated to places and people they were unfamiliar with, and waiting for news against a backdrop of propaganda and misinformation?

We will be adding more stories about #uncertainty throughout the project.
